BRANCHEZ-VOUS! launches the environmental web site MaTerre.ca

MaTerre.ca builds bridges between individuals interested in environmental matters. Online in a Beta version for the past few months, MaTerre.ca has already lured over 200 individual members and close to 100 organizations. MaTerre.ca is now inviting the general audience and environment professionals to participate in this online community by posting on the site their ideas, their suggestions and, most importantly, their projects.

MaTerre.ca offers a variety of useful resources to citizens and consumers eager to take action:
· A planification platform, allowing individuals and organizations to launch, organize and promote concrete actions for the environment;
· A daily blog devoted to the environment, to follow trends and share opinions on hot topics;
· Continuous news coverage, from Le Devoir and Radio-Canada;
· An agenda with green events to follow or join;
· A directory of environment-friendly organizations, corporations and associations; and
· Videos and web links for reference.

The MaTerre.ca project benefits from the collaboration of numerous partners, including the Canadian Parks and Wilderness Society (Cpaws), Le Devoir, Environnement Jeunesse (Enjeu), Équiterre, Greenpeace, le Jour de la Terre Québec, Radio-Canada.ca, Ethiquette.ca, the Regroupement des Éco-quartiers, the Sierra Club and Société de transport de Montréal (STM).

Apéros MaTerre.ca

In addition to its web site, MaTerre.ca will have a live component with the "Apéro MaTerre.ca", a bi-monthly gathering organized with the support of people already involved in the "6 à 9 Verts". The first "Apéro MaTerre.ca" event will take place on Tuesday, October 14, or the evening of Federal elections, that guests will be invited to follow on several screens in the Salon Officiel pub. Richard Bergeron, Chief of Projet Montréal and municipal counsellor of the De Lorimier, Plateau-Mont-Royal district will attend this first edition.

The Funambus of the STM will be officially launched in the coming weeks.
